TBEX 2011 in Vancouver was my first blogging conference, and it was an absolute joy to finally put faces to the names of persons whom I already think of as friends. The travel blogging community is like no other I’ve experienced – there is endless support, encouragement, and of course, willingness to party!
A huge thank you goes out to Tara Berger, Social Media & Communications Coordinator of AM Resorts for organizing our farewell boat party with Sunset Bay Yacht Group on the Corporate Yacht. Much fun was had by all, but none more than me: I was lucky enough to be allowed to perform with the band Goby Catt and the Catt Pack. Here is my performance of Fats Waller’s 1929 Jazz classic “Ain’t Misbehavin'”:
Check out Michael Hodson of GoSeeWrite in the clip. A special thank you to Dustin Main of Skinnybackpacker, for shooting this footage for me (and not being afraid of putting me off by getting right in my face!)
The rest of my photos from TBEX can be viewed here.
Here is some fun footage also shot by Dustin showing us TBEX’ers getting our groove on to the Bee Gee’s. Enjoy!
So glad you enjoyed your time in Vancouver!
Not sure if we met the boat cruise? (so many names and so many introductions!)
We met on the last day of the conference before the cruise…no worries! It was hard keeping up with so many new names/faces
It was fun meeting on the cruise — and I agree, it was a great event. I’m mentally preparing now for our future hiking trip. 🙂
Hi Haley! Yes it was really fun. So glad that you’re local too…are you coming to the Facebook Seattle Travel Happy Hour next Wednesday? Are you a member of the group? You must join and come along…
As for the hike- Absolutely! And we can start with something a little less strenuous: as soon as I’m done with Mt. Rainier next weekend!
I’m a new member of the group and am planning to go on Wednesday, schedule permitting. Look forward to hearing about how Mt. Rainier goes for you!
Great singing Anita!
Ah…Thank you Dustin! And GREAT filming to you too!
Love this! The cruise was so much fun, even though I sadly missed out on much of the dancing as I was downstairs feeling like I should do some ‘networking’ haha. I was able to catch the end of your singing performance though! Great job 😉
Hey, are you living in Seattle? Not sure why I didn’t know that! I’m here for the summer!
Hi Annie! That boat party was a lot of fun…and thank you for the compliment.
Yes! I live in Seattle…no worries, I didn’t meet all the Seattle travelites at TBEX either! Are you a member of the Seattle Travel Facebook group? You should come to one of our happy hours.
Awesome video! I heard your performed but we were downstairs and didn’t get a chance to see you sing. So glad it was taped – you were awesome! 🙂
Ahhh…THANK YOU! I’m so thankful to Dustin for shooting the footage…this will be a great memory for me. I really miss performing.
You have a great voice! I heard you singing on the TBEX cruise but regretfully did not get to meet you. What a fun event!
Thank you Leslie! It was an incredibly fun event…sorry we didn’t meet. We’ll take this as our official introduction…I’ll check out you site.
Damn, I wish they would have served alcohol on that cruise. Then we really would have cut loose and had a good time. 😉
I know! How are we supposed to dance in circles sober?
Still can’t believe I missed this! I was downstairs chatting it up with Cam and Nicole! Nice work though!
Hi Aaron…yeah, what the hell? 🙂 Glad you got to see it here…and thanks!
Soooo fun!! I need a cheat sheet — I don’t recognize everyone away from their blogs haha.
I should list the names in the pic…though I don’t think I recognize everybody, and I was there!
I wish I was there too 😦 Great videos and I love your singing 😉
Thanks Sebastian
Were you the only one who had fun at TBEX
Ha ha…no of course not! Lots of fun was had by all who came and intended to have fun!
How did I miss this? It was such a pleasure meeting you! And you have a lovely voice, sing more!
Wow, girl! You have a great voice!
I agree with what others have said – nice voice! I would love to attend the conference next year if it is possible. It must have been great meeting up with so many other talented bloggers while getting to know them in person.
Thank you! It was so wonderful to put names to the faces of people who I’d thought of as friends for so long. Hope you can make it to Colorado next year.
